Britney Spears is covered in a blanket as paramedics suspect she may have suffered a mental breakdown.

In the early hours of May 2, pop singer Britney Spears made headlines in several US newspapers.

It was not the first time she was reported to be standing outside the Chateau Marmont hotel in Los Angeles, disheveled and seemingly having a nervous breakdown.

Spears, 42, stood outside the hotel with pillows, blankets over her body and bare feet as she appeared to be in a sudden situation and rushed out.

However, this is not the case.

She reportedly checked into the Chateau Marmont hotel on Sunset Boulevard with her boyfriend, Paul Richard Soliz, but they got into an argument and injured someone else.

Reports say a woman resembling Britney Spears harassed and threatened hotel staff and guests.

The LAPD Fire Department confirmed their response.

"We received a 911 call reporting an adult female injured," a Los Angeles Fire Department representative said.

"The caller did not provide much information about the nature of the injury, and we dispatched an ambulance to the location."

Ambulances remained at the scene until after 1am but did not take anyone to hospital.

Spears was escorted out of the hotel by security and "is now home and safe," the source said.

When emergency services arrived on the scene, Spears could be seen standing barefoot with a pillow and appeared not to need or want to be helped, while security guards tried in vain to pull up the curtain.

Reports say Britney and Paul went back to their rooms after eating at the restaurant and continued "partying and drinking."

But then there was a "massive physical altercation and Britney may have hurt her leg."

Spears was allegedly "screaming and losing control in the hallway of her suite" and "several guests" thought she might be having a nervous breakdown, so emergency services were called.

Eventually, Britney refused to take an ambulance to the hospital for further tests and treatment, only to be escorted away by security, but Paul did not go with him.

Britney's boyfriend Paul seems unfazed by his girlfriend's image, and the relationship between the two seems like strangers.

Judging by her loose eyes and unruly hair, Spears was indeed not well at the time, raising concerns about whether she was having another nervous breakdown.

Given that she regularly posts irrational comments or indecent photos and videos on social media, the possibility of her re-emerging mental problems cannot be ignored.

Britney enjoyed global fame in her youth, but her career has seen many challenges, and fans may not be able to understand her inner pain.
